thumbnail_IMG_0235l

We have told you about the Wool Summer Block of the Week, and we know many of you have asked what the Pieced Summer Block of the Week is. Well are you ready for our Star Studded Event?

How the Summer Block of the Week will work this year?

Like most of our SBOWS this will be a 12-week commitment from all of you, we will start shipping the SBOW June 5. You will need to ask yourself if you would like to pay monthly or pay in full. If you are paying monthly you will be charged $76.00 for 3 months. If you are paying monthly we are going to be doing something a little different this year, we are going to be charging you in May for your first set of blocks, this allows us to start shipping your blocks on the first of every month instead of having to wait until the 6th of every month when our billing cycle completes. If you would like to pay in full, you will be charged at the time of purchase $209.00, this is all of the blocks and shipping. If you are paying in full, you will receive a FREE week as our “Thank You” for only having to run your credit card one time!

Pricing:

Per Week: $19.00 ($16.00 + $3.00 Shipping)

Paying Monthly: $76.00 (3 months)

Pay In Full: $209 (1 week FREE)

Backing Fabric: $66.80 (30% discount) 7 yards

Supply Kit: $45.00

What do you receive each week?

Our Star Studded Event will be the star of the show once you have completed it. We decided to go easy on you this year with the blocks that you will be making each week. Each week you will receive 60 lights and 60 darks that will allow you to create 10-6 1/2” square blocks, 6” finished. While we will need to reuse some of our fabrics more than once, you have the potential of getting more than 1,200 different fabrics! Once completed Star Studded Event will measure approximately 90”x96”. There will be NO Finishing kit needed for this quilt; you will have everything you need to finish this quilt minus that Backing, as that is optional.

Some things to consider:

 Supply Kit

Our Supply Kits are helpful things that you might need along your quilting journey in our Summer Block of the Week. This year your Supply kit if you choose to purchase it will include: Aurifil 2310 and 2370, 3”x7” Itty Bitty Ruler, 13”x13” zipper bag. There isn’t much that you need for this project, but we thought everyone could use some thread, a ruler and a place to put your finished blocks. You will need the 2310 for the light blocks, and 2370 for the dark blacks. Regular price for these items is $56.69 plus shipping. We are offering it to you at a discounted price of $45.00, which includes shipping.

thumbnail_IMG_0233l

Backing Fabric:

You are going to need 7 yards of backing fabric to complete your quilt. If you would like to purchase it from us we are extending a 30% discount on your backing fabric. Which means that instead of paying $84.00 plus shipping, you will only be charged $66.80 and that includes shipping! Just let us know in the comment section what color you would like, and we will pick out an amazing one for you!

As you can see by the picture of our EPP SBOW, it is different than anything we have ever done before. Each week you will receive a different sized background strip and along with having a different shaped paper piece to create. Like the name suggests, most of your fabric you are going to be doing Fussy Cutting. If you do not want to do that you do not have to, but the patterns that were chosen are ones will work great with Fussy Cutting.

Some things to consider:

Supply Kit

This year our Supply Kit is going to be put into one of our 13”x13” Zipper bags. This allows you to travel easy with your EPPs and work on them where ever you are. The Supply Kit will also include your Paper Pieces Pack for the entire quilt, a Sewline Glue pen, Fray Check and a package of #11 Straw needles.   The Supply Kit should retail for $59.85, and we are putting them on Sale for $47, which includes shipping.

thumbnail_IMG_5369l

 Thread Kit

Used for both basting your EPPs and also for piecing them together, we have a small spool 8-piece 50 wt. Aurifil Thread Kit for you. The Aurifil Thread kit should retail for $43.35, however we are giving you a discount, which is equivalent to 2-FREE spools. For $32.50 the Aurifil Thread Kit will include: 1-large spool of 2370, small spools of 2260, 1246, 2520, 2905, 1140, and 2785.

thumbnail_IMG_0227l

Extras

Acrylic Window Set

One of the things you might want to consider, and what we think is very important is the 5-piece Window Acrylic Set for $23.00 (shipping included). This Acrylic Set will allow you to skillfully place your papers to get all those amazing Fussy Cuts accurate. We cannot stress how important this Set is!

thumbnail_IMG_0225l

Paper Pieces Pack

If you are purchasing the Supply kit, you DO NOT need to purchase this pack; this is already included in the kit. If you are not purchasing the Supply Kit this is something you might want to consider purchasing, this pack will have ALL of the papers in it that you will need to complete the quilt. You will not have to reuse any of the papers, and will even have just few extra just in case.

thumbnail_IMG_5373l

 Glue Refill Set:

Do you use the Sewline Glue Pen for basting all of your EPPs? If so, we have put together a Glue Refill Set, which includes 5-2 piece refill set for you. Which means that you receive a total of 10 refills for your Sewline Glue Pen for only $15.00 (includes shipping) this is like getting 4 refills for FREE!

thumbnail_IMG_5372l

Backing:

We are offering 30% off of your backing fabric if you purchase it with us! You will receive 4 yards of Backing Fabric for only $38.60 includes shipping! Just let us know what color you would like for your backing fabric in the Comment Section and we will pick you out something amazing!

Please remember that due to the constraints of fabrics and how they are fussy cut, there will be substitutions made of fabrics. All fabrics will have the same “personality” and will be made for fussy cutting.

International and Canadian Orders

In order to keep your shipping costs down when doing the SBOW, we have to do your shipping a little different. We will ship your first block and Essentials out the first week of the program. After that we will hold your blocks for a 4-week time period, and ship on that fourth week. This allows us to have just enough money in postage for you to cover our cost to ship it to you.   If you would like to receive yours weekly please call the Shop and we would be happy to help you, but please know that it costs us about $9.00 to ship you a package each week. Which means an additional $24.00 would be needed from you each month to get your SBOW out to you weekly.

Will there be a Freebie this year?

Of course there is going to be a Freebie this year! We are planning that one out while I am typing this email to you. This year if you are participating in one of our SBOWs, you will automatically be getting one of our Freebies. Please note that if you are participating in more than 1 SBOW you will only receive 1 Freebie.

If you are not participating in our SBOW this year but still would like to receive the Freebie, you will need to make a purchase of $25.00 or more, each week that the SBOW is running. If you miss one they can be purchased for $5.00 a piece.

Facebook Group

We will be having a Facebook Group again this year. This group is absolutely amazing to keep you motivated, to learn new tricks and to see exclusive teachings from Lisa. This year we are planning a few Facebook Live posts for everyone to learn from, which will be a lot of fun! PLEASE make sure that you first are friends with ME, Jessica Holz on Facebook; from there you will need to send me a message to let me know that you are in the SBOW and would like to be added into the group. I will then add you into the Group and you are ready to start participating and asking questions if you have them. You NEED to be friends with me as it is a CLOSED/PRIVATE group, I am only able to add you if you are my friend.

Summer Block of the Week-Wool is HERE!

SBOW Block 1 Web-1

I’m looking outside waiting for an impending snowstorm and writing to you about our Summer Block of the Week! Something has to be wrong here, and I think it is the Snow Storm! We are starting our Summer Block of the Week kick off a little early this year; while we are still working on our Pieced and our Hand Pieced SBOWs, we are set to launch our Wool SBOW. We are in a bit of a conundrum with fabric and know that we are going to have to special order the Flannel Background because Moda does not have enough to cover what we believe we are going to need. With that said, we are starting the sign ups for our Wool SBOW this week so that we are able to order enough fabric to cover everyone who would like to participate.

This year you are going to need 8 yards of background flannel to complete the quilt. Our quilt we figure is going to measure around 90”x 90”. Yes, it is going to be a larger size quilt this year, it is in my opinion probably one of the most stunning SBOWs that we have done yet! Block sizes are 18.5” square, but will only be using about 16” of that for wool applique and the rest will be for the faux sashing. See diagram in Finishing kit to see meaning. You will have your choice of 3 different backgrounds; Lisa will be doing hers on the Midnight Navy flannel, as seen below.

We have also chosen anther color that we believe will look spectacular with the wools that we have chosen. We choose a light blue grey called Lake.

PLEASE NOTE: All wools will be exactly the same no matter what background fabric you choose. For some reason the other color showed up a little creamery, but they are EXACTLY the same!

How the Summer Block of the Week will work this year?

Since we have 8 yards of background flannel that is needed for this project you are going to receive all of that upfront in your first weeks shipment. Like most of our SBOWS this will be a 12-week commitment from all of you, we will start shipping the SBOW June 5. The 8 yards of flannel is going to be considered your “Essentials”, when signing up for this you will need to choose which color you would like for your Essentials (background fabric) to be, your background fabric will be charged at the time of the purchase and will be $114.00, which includes shipping. Next you will need to ask yourself if you would like to pay monthly or pay in full. If you are paying monthly you will be charged $80.00 that includes 4- weeks of Blocks and shipping. If you are paying monthly we are going to be doing something a little different this year, we are going to be charging you in May for your first set of blocks, this allows us to start shipping your blocks on the first of every month instead of having to wait until the 6th of every month when our billing cycle completes. If you would like to pay in full, you will be charged at the time of purchase $220.00, this is all of your wool blocks and shipping. If you are paying in full, you will receive a FREE week as our “Thank You” for only having to run your credit card one time!

Pricing:

Essentials: $104.00 (8 yds. of background fabric)+$10.00 for shipping

Weekly: $20.00 ($17.00/week plus $3.00 shipping)

**There is not an option, we are just letting you know what it is per week.

Pay Monthly: $80.00 for wool and shipping (essentials were paid for at time of purchase)

Pay in Full: $220.00 plus Essentials

**If you are in the state of Wisconsin you will have tax included on your purchase.

Thread Kits

Thread Kit $58.00
Thread Kit $58.00

We have built Starter Thread kits, this means that you might need to purchase more of one or more of these colors before you finish these appliques; because this quilt is not finished we do not know which ones you will need for sure. This quilt will all be in the same color tones as you see in the pictures, which means you are going to be using a lot of the same threads. Our Thread kit is $55.00 plus $3.00 for shipping for a total of $58.00.

Threads needed are:

#12: 0196, 0563, P3, 0178, M49, M23, P4, 5 (2 balls).

#8: 0196, 5, P4.

Supply Kits

Our Supply Kit this year is going to be a little different this year. This year we have put our Supply Kit in one of our logo Zipper Bags. The Supply Kit will include: Fray Check, 6-#24 and 6-#22 Chenille Needles, and 5-yards of Heat and Bond, and 1 package of Lite Steam a Seam 2, and the zipper bagged. We have had several of you who do not like the Lite Steam a Seam 2 that we have been using, so we have replaced it with the Heat and Bond, Lisa is using that on her blocks as well. Lisa will be using the Lite Steam a Seam 2 for her stems only. By ordering a Supply Kit you will be saving 25% off of the whole kit, this kit will be only $38.00 includes shipping, regular price $45.50 plus shipping.

Supply Kit $38.00
Supply Kit $38.00

International and Canadian Orders

In order to keep your shipping costs down when doing the SBOW, we have to do your shipping a little different. We will ship your first block and Essentials out the first week of the program. Which means an additional $24.00 would be needed from you each month to get your SBOW out to you weekly.

Finishing Kits

As we have done in years past, this SBOW will have a finishing kit available to you for purchasing somewhere in the middle of the program. You will NOT need any additional flannel fabric for the finishing kit. Your finishing kit would include the center medallion and the outer boarders. When we have pricing figured out, we will send a note home in one of your blocks, along with posting it on Facebook and in our Facebook Group. Here is a diagram of how we believe the SBOW will be put together and finished.

Will There be other SBOWs like there has been in the past?

Yes, there will be an English Paper Piecing and a Pieced SBOW like there has been in years past.  We are still working on those and should have those ready to go in a couple weeks.  As we stated above, our Wool SBOW needed to be out early as we are in a bit of a constraint with the fabric and want to make sure we have enough for everyone who would like to participate.

Want to know when you package ships?

UPSP Informed Delivery By USPS is available for you.  You just need to sign up online with the USPS if you would like to be informed as to when your packages will be arriving.  Once we put it into USPS you will be informed of it journey to you and when you can expect it in your mail box. We hope you love doing these Blocks of the Week as much as we love putting them on for you.  This is one of our favorite times of the year…..besides our Christmas Open House.

Have a beautiful Day!

Just a few Helpful Hints for those of you doing Moon Garden…..

thumbnail-4

Have you signed up to participate with us in our Moon Garden Stitch A Long?  We have about 50 spots left if you would like to receive a fabric and wool kit from us or just a wool kit from us.  If you would like to do it on your own with your own wools and fabric you are more than welcome to do that!  For those of you that are in Round 3 of our Stitch A Long here is what these baskets look on the Black Muslin, absolutely stunning, and will allow for some awesome quilting! Lisa is doing a second sample on the Black Muslin as well.

As the time to ship out these kits draws closer and Lisa has finalized the instructions for the first few sets of blocks, it has come to our attention that there are a few things that might be helpful in your Moon Garden journey that we would like to pass along to you.

Our Charming Itty Bitty Ruler which is 5″x15″.  All stems will be 3/16″ wide, which is bigger than 1/8″ but smaller than 1/4″; our Charming Itty Bitty Ruler has a 3/16″ marking on it just for this purpose.  Lisa designs many of her patterns with a 3/16″ marking, which is why when she created this ruler with Creative Grids she had it put specifically on there. This makes it simple when she wants to go and cut stems for her projects.

There will also be several circles on each of your blocks, and instead of having to trace all those circles off of a piece of paper, we have a circle template that is perfect for you.  We are putting our Circle Template on Sale at this time for $10.00 (reg. $14.00) because we know how usefully this notion can be for you.  If you are anything like me (jessica) you hate trying to get those perfect circles by tracing off of a piece of paper.  I don’t know what it is but I can never make them circular, there is always something that goes wonky.  IMG_0136

NEW!!!!!! Please read!

For those of you who will be doing the Stitch A Long on your own, but would like to receive the pattern from us, instead of having to go get full size sheets made else where, we will have the patterns available for sale on our website.  Patterns will be $5.00 plus shipping, and will be made available to you for the 12 months that we are doing this Stitch A Long.  Patterns will be available for a FREE download to you off of Lisa’s Blog for 1 month, once she posts the next block, the previous block will be taken down.  These patterns will go up when she posts on the Blog.  They are NOT available today, and will be posted in April with the First Block.  As you can see below these are full size patterns and they are normally patterns that we sell for $10.00-$12.00, so at $5.00 they are a steal!

IMG_0140

Please let me know if you have any questions, Block #1 are getting finished this week so that they are ready to ship next week bright and early!

Enjoy your week and weekend,

Jessica

Sale in Honor of National Quilting Day March 17th

3e85c1793b6866f38a5f243b0551ea9c

Did you know that only 27 years ago the first National Quilting Day Resolution was started?  It all began with the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society.  The Quilt Society had organized a “Quilters Day Out” back in 1989 which was to be held the third Saturday of March each year, and when the National Quilting Association heard about it they fell in love with the idea.  So, when the 22nd Annual Show of the National Quilting Association met in Lincoln, Nebraska in June of 1991, a resolution was passed to establish a National Quilting Day.  And so it was designated to be National Quilting Day every third Saturday in March.  And it just so happens to be St. Patricks Day this year as well, so there is a party going on some where, why not make it a Quilting Party!

In HONOR of National Quilting we have a few promotions going on that we would like to share with you.  Since it is National Quilting Day we are celebrating by passing along a 20% discount on all in stock, full price quilt kits! Your choice, Big or Small, Medium or in between!  Our only exclusion is that it can not have wool on it.  This promotion begins TODAY and ends March 18th at midnight!  These are just a few of the awesome quilt kits that you could be giving a good home too.

Because we have so many quilts for you to choose from, in different sections of the website, the discount WILL NOT show up on your order, we will manually have to do this promotion for you and will be refunding you and letting you know how much your refund is once we have completed your order.  Please be patient with us, unfortunately this isn’t a perfect system and sometimes we have to do things manually because the computer would go on overload and probably blow up if we tried to do this promotion with the computers help.   Computers are suppose to make our lives so much easier, but sometimes they don’t right?

We were also able to snag up a bunch of these Red Moda Clipboard Quilters Sets.  These include a Clipboard, Grid paper to map out your next quilt, 6 pencils and 8-1.5″ Binder Clips.  These are perfect for when you are trying to organize your thoughts, keeping fabric swatches together and making up your next quilt or block.  Only $17.00 for this package set, regularly $20.00.  After Sunday March 18th the price will go back up to $20.00.

Now its time to have some fun.  Take a peak around at our website, find that quilt that you have had your eye on for a while, or look to see if you can find a new project that strikes your fancy! I know there are a bunch on there that I would love to get my hands on and make.  Now is the time!

Have a Beautiful week/weekend quilting!

I told you so…..

IMG_0022

Last week I said I know that there is going to be a snowstorm; well the weather decided to prove me right quicker than I thought it would.  We are in a Winter Weather Advisory, telling us that there could be 4-7 inches of snow coming with strong winds.  I know that is not a ton of snow, but when there is nothing left, I don’t want it to turn into a Winter Wonderland….again.  I am ready for the flowers and the sun, and good weather!  Its going to continue to snow all day long, so why don’t I have a little fun and tell you about a couple NEW projects that we have out.

Some of  you have seen them, and some might be new to you.  We are down to our last box of Little Gatherings Books and have decided to pattern the miniature quilts individually.  All but 2 patterns will come with the triangle papers needed to make each quilt, the two that do not come with the triangle papers will tell you in their description.  Triangle papers are not provided in these patterns because they need almost a whole package of papers. We only have a few kits of each of these available in there ORIGINAL fabrics, so make sure to scoop these up!

Its beginning to look a lot like Spring Time…

Ok, can I honestly say that here in Wisconsin?  You bet I can, its been in the 40’s this past week! I know I am in for a HUGE disappointment when that snow storm comes through. No we don’t have one predicted yet, be lets face it we all know it is coming! I have seen it snow in MAY!! Yes, thats right I said MAY! So I need to do all that I can to think “SPRING!”  Nothing is better then, than finding a bunch of fun wools, threads and fabrics to play with; so when that snow does actually come through I am prepared and ready to have some FUN!

There is no need to wait on the snow for some of these goodies.  We have put together a great little set of Valdani #12 perle cottons, cause there is never enough threads to go around.  These would be fun threads for your pastel wools, or to do some fun embroidery stitches with.  Embellishments on your wool projects would look stunning in these lighter colors in our Easter Thread Collection. We also have our Wool Crazy Thread pack that would be just as versatile as the 6 pack.  We love these lighter colors on the the darker backgrounds because when you put that much into all your crazy stitches and embroidery, you want to show it off.

Do you need some wool to go along with these threads?  Or looking to do some of those cute easter eggs you see everywhere all over Facebook and Pinterest this time of year? We have the pattern AND the wool to help you!  We have Bundles, Charms, Scrap bags and more!

Did you see this pattern???? It is absolutely positively adorable! If you have some one that you give a little gift to for Easter or just because this Spring, think about putting it into one of these little I’M ALL EARS bags! These bags are 5″x 7″x 2″ and will fit all kinds of goodies! Pattern Only $5.00, we also have fabric bundles that will allow you to make 2 bags for $5.00….so a total of $10.00 for kit and pattern!!!!

Also did you see the STITCH HAPPENS? How awesome would this look hanging in your sewing room.  At 37″x 40″ it will be able to hang just about any where.  We are hoping to make a kit out of it soon but wanted to share the pattern with you right away because we think it is amazing! Pattern only $10.00.

And if you are not following along and doing the Garden Mystery Blog Hop Blocks, you need to take a peak at Lisa’s up on her Blog TODAY!  We are WK4, you can still join in! Grow Block Web

If you are looking for anything else that is Spring, we have put a few other Favorites of ours up under the NEW section on our Website.  We have our own little category for our Favorite Spring time patterns, notions, fabrics, wools, and threads, so check it out!

We hope you have a beautiful weekend,

Moon Garden Stitch A Long

thumbnail-4

Have you joined our Moon Garden Stitch A Long?  If not we still have a few spots available, but to tell you the truth we have had such an overwhelming response to this Stitch A Long that we might have to end up closing it at a some point.

If you have not heard about our Stitch A Long here is a little recap:

Moon Garden is a 12 block basket BOM.  the blocks are nice and big for easy stitching….we believe they will finish somewhere between 16″-17″….we want to leave that option open until the final setting is figured out.  The backgrounds will all be FQ for each block.  If you purchase a kit from us, be it the Wool Kit or the Background plus Wool kit you will receive the FULL SIZE patterns in each of your blocks, therefore there will be no need for you to go and get the patterns printed out and blown up.

img_11231

We had to change up the backgrounds due to how popular the Stitch A Long has become please note that if you sign up now, DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND OF THE BACKGROUND FABRICS WE NO LONGER ARE ABLE TO OFFER THE MULTIPLE BACKGROUND FABRICS FOR THE BLOCK. THIS QUILT WILL LOOK JUST AS BEAUTIFUL IN ONE BACKGROUND. WE WILL BE SENDING 1040-26, WHICH IS OUR MODELED BLACK MUSLIN, FOR ALL OF YOUR BLOCKS. We will also be subbing out some of the wools for the baskets.  This doesn’t mean that you will be getting ugly baskets, this just means that we have a wide variety of wools at out disposal and we only picked 12 of the ones that we had.  All baskets will will be approved by Lisa, so you know they will be just as gorgeous as the originals!

We also have a Facebook Group devoted to this Stitch A Long if  you are on Facebook.  Type MOON GARDEN STITCH A LONG, into your Facebook Search engine; once you have located the group REQUEST to join and you will be filtered into the group!  Or you can click on the link here!  If you have ever participated in one of our Facebook Groups you know the kind of fun we have in those groups.  If you do not have Facebook, you will still be able to follow along with Lisa on her Blog.
