Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Sampler #47–Red, White and Blue Star

The story connected with this block is so interesting, mainly so to me because I love to knit socks! And we are featuring a patriotic red from Lisa’s Old Glory Gatherings line for the star. If you like red like I do, you will love this fabric. To construct this block, we will use set-in seams again. First I traced all the lock pieces on with freezer paper, iron edit hem to the fabrics, and then rotary cut them. I traced all seam lines on to the fabrics, and sewed each seam, stopping at the end, being careful not to sew into the seam allowances. If you are carefully doing that, it will be easy to pivot and sew the next seam.

That’s all for now. See you next week … THREE BLOCKS TO GO, AND WE CAN START OUR FINISHING KITS!
